The Tamiya 26541 kit recreates the U.S. M8 Light Armored Car, commonly called the "Greyhound." Built by Ford from 1942, the M8 served mainly as a reconnaissance vehicle in World War II, prized for its mobility despite light armor and often noted by Allied crews for its speed and handling.
This finished 1/48 scale model reflects the M8's operational layout, showing the open-topped turret, the 37mm main gun, a coaxial M1919A4 machine gun and the M2 heavy machine gun used for anti-aircraft and support roles. The kit mirrors examples seen in European campaigns with period markings and a weathered paint style to enhance display realism.
