The Tamiya 25119 kit recreates two notable World War II vessels, the Japanese Navy Submarine I-58 and the American cruiser USS Indianapolis, at 1/700 scale. The set gives scale modellers the chance to assemble historically styled hulls and superstructures that reflect their July 1945 condition.
The I-58 components are produced to show the vessel as she appeared during the late war engagement on July 30, 1945. The deck parts include fine mouldings for radar fittings, anti-aircraft mounts and manned torpedoes, and builders can choose a deployed or stowed periscope position for display variety.
The USS Indianapolis sections capture the ship's July 1945 silhouette with a detailed superstructure, funnels, masts and radar arrays. Armament is represented by carefully moulded triple 20.3cm turrets, 12.7cm dual purpose guns and various anti-aircraft weapons. Poly caps are supplied to permit turret rotation after assembly, and parts are included for two Curtiss SC-1 Seahawk seaplanes for additional detail work.
