The Type 3 Chi-Nu was among the last Japanese medium tanks developed during World War II, marking a key step in domestic tank evolution. Introduced in May 1944 as an improved follow-up to the Type 97 Chi-Ha, the Chi-Nu used a 240hp Type 100 V-12 diesel engine and mounted a Type 3 75mm gun intended to contest Allied M4 Sherman tanks. About 200 were produced and mostly held in defense positions within Japan, with no recorded engagements against Allied forces.
This 1/35 scale kit from Tamiya reproduces the Chi-Nu with careful detail and includes four crew figures for in-box diorama scenes. The kit uses components from Fine Molds for accurate parts and belt-type tracks that simplify assembly while preserving realistic appearance.
