Tamiya 24258 captures the R34 Skyline GT-R V-Spec II in 1/24 scale

The Nissan R34 Skyline GT-R V-Spec II is a landmark sports car, admired for its engineering and track heritage. This Tamiya 1/24 scale kit reproduces the R34s signature lines and detailing, giving model builders an accurate small-scale version to assemble and display.

R34 heritage and core performance facts

Debuting in 1999, the R34 continued the Skyline GT-R legacy with a potent 2.6-liter twin-turbo inline-six and an advanced all-wheel-drive layout. The V-Spec II, arriving in October 2000, added upgrades like larger rear brakes and a carbon fibre hood with a NACA duct, distinguishing it from earlier trims.

Assembly highlights and detailing notes

The kit delivers crisp moulding and quality components for a satisfying build. Body panels are finely formed and the suspension is modelled with realistic detail. Transparent parts are supplied for windows and lamps, tyres are solid rubber with correct tread, and the right-hand drive cabin reflects the original layout.

This kit suits intermediate to experienced builders. Parts fit well but require careful trimming, painting and decal work to achieve an authentic finish.
Use model-grade acrylic or enamel paints and a plastic model cement for assembly. A fine brush or airbrush gives the cleanest results on the bodywork.
Many builders add photo-etched details or metal mirrors for extra realism. Wheel and tyre upgrades can also enhance scale appearance without major modification.
Yes. Its genuine proportions and accurate details make it suitable for static displays or diorama scenes that reflect late 1990s Japanese sportscar culture.
