Tune suspension geometry with low-mount Tamiya retainers

For builders refining their Tamiya on-road chassis, the Tamiya 22080 Lo-Mount Aluminum Retainers let you drop the mounting point of large-diameter springs. They are commonly used with Super Short Big Bore dampers to improve damper travel utilization and produce more controlled handling and smoother suspension action.

Main Benefits

  • Better spring alignment: Dropping the spring seat makes damper stroke more effective and helps stabilise cornering balance.
  • Slimmed profile at the damper ends: Thinner sections between end caps and the cylinder promote freer damper movement without adding bulk.
  • Wide fitment: Suited to setups that use large-diameter springs, providing flexibility across several Tamiya models.
  • Fitment note: Some arm geometries or steep suspension angles may need trimming or repositioning to prevent contact during travel.

As with all my previous purchases from you superb service and delivery time. Order well packaged and as described. Definitely a supplier at the top of my list when rc products are needed. Thank you.
They are designed for large-diameter spring applications, but verify clearance with your specific damper and arm layout before final fitment.
Not always. These retainers are made to be used with Super Short Big Bore style dampers, though you should check stroke and end-cap clearance after installation.
If the retainer contacts an arm, carefully trim or reposition the arm mounting points or adjust the damper angle to clear the path of travel.
Check full suspension travel front and rear, confirm no binding at full droop or compression, and re-check preload and ride height before running.
