Assemble the Tamiya 1/20 Tyrrell P34 from the 1977 Monaco GP

The Tyrrell P34 remains one of the most unusual Formula 1 cars ever produced, famous for its four small front wheels. This 1/20 scale Tamiya recreation of the 1977 Monaco GP car captures the engineering oddity and period styling in accurate plastic parts. The kit presents the P34's distinctive silhouette and historic presence on the grid.

Race background and legacy

Designed in the mid 1970s, the Tyrrell P34 stood out for its front wheel solution aimed at improving grip and airflow. The 1977 machine ran in a blue and white livery under First National City Bank sponsorship. Despite ongoing tyre development issues, the car competed throughout the season with drivers like Patrick Depailler and Ronnie Peterson behind the wheel.

Kit build details and what to expect

This Tamiya set recreates the P34 as seen in Monaco 1977 with a detailed Ford Cosworth DFV engine and an accurate gearbox assembly. Builders will find authentic wheel assemblies and a driver figure for display. The decal sheet contains markings for both Depailler and Peterson to reflect the period liveries.

Excellent Service, Prompt Deliveries, Good Prices. One of the best, if not the best, model e-shop I have dealt with. Strongly Recommended. Keep Up the Good Work.
Yes. Once built the Ford Cosworth DFV engine and parts of the gearbox are visible, letting you show off mechanical detail in a display model.
The kit includes decals for both Patrick Depailler and Ronnie Peterson so you can finish the model in either driver's Monaco 1977 livery.
Standard plastic model cement works well for assembly and enamel or acrylic hobby paints reproduce the original blue and white livery. Use fine brushes for cockpit and engine details.
