The Tamiya 18068 Thunder Dragon Premium celebrates Mini 4WD heritage with a refreshed design for its 30th anniversary. Built on the versatile VS chassis, the kit merges striking looks with solid potential for track tuning, making it attractive to both display collectors and active racers.
The Thunder Dragon Jr. body arrives in a bright silver moulding that gives a clean, modern appearance. The VS chassis is produced in dark blue ABS for rigidity and long service life. Finishing touches include large-diameter fluorescent yellow wheels paired with black spike tyres that enhance traction and stand out visually.
The compact VS chassis delivers a lightweight platform and predictable balance for competitive runs. Low-friction black rollers in 13mm and 13-12mm sizes are fitted to reduce drag through turns. The kit includes a Type 130 motor and a 4.2:1 gear ratio to provide a straightforward mix of speed and torque.
Owners can tailor performance using a range of Grade-Up Parts sold separately. Common upgrades include improved rollers, bearings and stabilisers to suit different track layouts and personal setup preferences, allowing the Thunder Dragon to be refined for faster, more consistent laps.
