The Honda Monkey began as a cute attraction at Honda's Tama Tech park in 1961, noted for its small frame, red chassis and white fuel tank. For the year 2000 Honda released a special anniversary run limited to 3,000 bikes worldwide, and that celebratory model remains prized for its character and collectibility.
Tamiya's 1/6 scale kit captures the 2000 Special with careful detailing. The assembled model measures 224mm long, 100mm wide and 175mm tall, and reproduces the 49cc SOHC engine in miniature. Key features include foldable handlebars and metal spring suspension, plus a set of decals to represent several Monkey variants.
The kit mirrors the Monkey's easy custom potential by offering two types of optional parts including a choice of muffler, so builders can personalise their model. Its accuracy and finish make it well suited for shelf display or inclusion in a retro motorcycle collection.
