Motor summary for club and hobby racing

The Tamiya 15484 Torque-Tuned 2 Motor is built for Mini 4WD hobbyists who want better low-end punch and consistent track performance. Favoured for its torque-oriented design, this motor gives confident launches out of corners and steady speed on mixed track layouts, suitable for both newcomers and experienced tuners.

Key performance notes

This unit delivers efficient acceleration and solid torque that helps maintain speed on bends and inclines. Its balance of output and economy makes it a versatile fit across a variety of racecourses. The motor's orange end bell remains a handy visual cue for quick ID in a pit box.

Technical Specifications

The Torque-Tuned 2 Motor runs best within an input range of 2.4-3.0V. Under recommended load it produces torque around 1.6-2.0mN-m and spins between 12,300 and 14,700 RPM. Current draw typically sits in the 1.7-2.0A window to give a good mix of power and efficiency.

Fitment and installation

Designed to work with most Mini 4WD chassis, the motor installs easily into common frames. Note that pinion gears are sold separately, so plan for gearing choices when fitting this motor into your setup.

I have been purchasing Tamiya products with Rcjaz for a couple of months now, selection is awesome and service is quick and reliable, considering I leave half way around the world.
This motor is compatible with the standard Mini 4WD chassis types used in club racing, including MS, MA, AR and VS platforms when installed with the correct mounting and gearing.
Gearing affects acceleration and top speed. Since pinion gears are sold separately, choose a pinion that suits your track - shorter gearing for twisty layouts, taller gearing for faster straights.
Keep the commutator and brushes clean, avoid prolonged stall conditions, and check for overheating after extended runs. Lightly remove dust and debris after each meeting to preserve performance.
