The Tamiya 12048 Ferrari 312B kit recreates the famed 1970s Grand Prix racer with careful attention to period styling. This 1/12 scale model includes a range of photo-etched parts to boost realism and is aimed at hobbyists who enjoy a detailed assembly challenge. The kit was last issued in 1998 and is built to capture the mechanical character of the original car.
Front and rear suspension pieces are modelled with fine detail and allow movement for display realism. The nose cowling detaches so internal components can be shown, while the steerable front wheels and synthetic rubber tyres with authentic tread add to the finished look. Photo-etched items such as seatbelt buckles, brake discs and radiator details sharpen the overall finish.
Metal transfers and seatbelt stickers supply small-scale accents, and included vinyl tubing stands in for ignition leads. A driver figure is supplied, plus Cartograf decals for cars raced by Jacky Ickx, Clay Regazzoni and Mario Andretti. Once assembled the model measures 432mm long, making it a strong centrepiece for a display shelf.
