Modern touring engineering with the Serpent 400031 Project 4X EVO

Designed by David Ehrbar, the Serpent Project 4X EVO is a 1/10 scale electric touring car that brings a focused, setup-driven approach to club and national track days. Its standout layout separates roll and heave adjustments so drivers can dial in handling with a high degree of precision.

Separated roll and heave suspension explained

The suspension layout on the Project 4X EVO allows independent tuning of roll and heave behaviour. That separation makes setup changes simpler and more predictable, while the dedicated heave dampers mounted just above the chassis at both ends help keep the center of gravity low for stable cornering.

Carbon fiber chassis and 7075 T6 motor mount

The chassis uses 2mm carbon fiber for balanced flex and resilience under load. The motor mount is machined from 7075 T6 aluminum, supporting midshaft locations and tying into the RRS elements to preserve rigidity without adding unnecessary weight.

Race oriented drivetrain and handling features

Key components include a bladeless front spool for consistent turn-in and a gear differential for smooth power delivery. Lightweight transmission parts and a considered weight layout make the 4X EVO a competitive chassis for racers focused on predictable handling and efficient power transfer.

The Serpent Project 4X EVO suits drivers who prioritise setup control and chassis balance, offering a modern platform that responds well to tuning and electronics choices.

The 4X EVO has advanced features but a clear layout, so newcomers who are comfortable reading setup sheets can learn quickly while experienced drivers can fine tune for lap time.
The chassis accepts shorty LiPo packs and allows multiple mounting positions to adjust weight bias depending on track demands.
Ride height is adjusted from the chassis side with a single screw mechanism, making on-the-fly tweaks quick during practice sessions.
Many components share common parts between front and rear assemblies, which helps reduce the variety of spares you need to carry to the track.
