The Kyosho Wave Chopper 2.0 marries a nostalgic silhouette with updated engineering. First seen in 2001, this 1/6 scale electric craft recreates the look and feel of a water bike while adding contemporary RC components for dependable on-water use.
Power comes from a G14L water-jacketed 550-class motor paired with the KYOSHO SPEED HOUSE KA60-91W speed controller, delivering solid torque and reduced heat under load. The hull geometry, including a kick-up rudder and a stern tube set to minimise drive drag, improves acceleration and nimble handling on flats and choppy water.
The model ships with a pre-assembled ABS hull and a painted PVC rider figure complete with decals to match the scale look. A waterproof radio box and waterproof speed controller add protection against splashes, while a high-rigidity suspended motor mount helps translate motor output into efficient thrust.
To run the Wave Chopper 2.0, pop four AA cells into the transmitter, charge the supplied 7.2V-2200mAh NiMH pack, and sync the 2.4GHz KT-231P+ transmitter. Controls are intuitive, so trimming and throttle feel are easy to dial in. Expect top speeds around 24 km/h for short sprint runs.
This Kyosho Wave Chopper 2.0 is well suited to hobbyists who value scale realism and straightforward operation, making it a fun pick for both newcomers and experienced RC boat pilots.
