This Italeri 1/35 AS.42 Sahariana kit gives model builders a chance to recreate a distinctive Italian desert scout vehicle. The AS.42 was fielded by the Regio Esercito for long-range reconnaissance in North Africa. Built on an AB 41 armored car chassis, the design used a low silhouette and large wheels to improve mobility over sand and rough dunes.
During World War II the AS.42 Sahariana was valued for scouting and hit-and-run patrols behind enemy lines. Its mounting options ranged from the Breda 20/65 light gun to the 47/32 anti-tank piece, so crews could adapt loadouts to mission needs. The model reflects that modular approach to armament and field use.
The Italeri kit targets hobbyists who value period accuracy and fine detail. Photo-etched components are supplied to lift the finish, and careful assembly yields a striking display model that highlights the AS.42's practical desert features.
