This Italeri 6477 scale model recreates the Semovente L 40 Da 47/32, the compact Italian tank destroyer used by the Royal Army in World War II. The kit follows the light L6/40 chassis and shows the 47mm gun mounted in a casemate. While not intended to face the heaviest opponents of the period, the vehicle saw active service in North Africa and was later pressed into German use after Italy's 1943 armistice.
Introduced around 1941, the Semovente L 40 Da 47/32 was produced in limited numbers, roughly 300 vehicles, and provided Italian forces with increased anti-armor capability for its class. Its operational record is most notable during late North African operations, and surviving examples were taken over by German units after Italy switched sides.
The Italeri kit captures the vehicle's silhouette and gun placement with careful moulding and panel detail, appealing to history-minded modellers. Parts require careful assembly to reflect the original structure, and builders will find the construction rewarding for display or diorama work.
