The BAE Hawk T. Mk.I, first produced by Hawker Siddeley and later under BAE Systems, was developed as an advanced jet trainer for the Royal Air Force in the late 1970s. Designed to replace the Folland Gnat, the Hawk is powered by a Rolls-Royce Adour turbofan and can reach speeds approaching Mach 0.84.
The T1A upgrade added a centreline Aden 30 mm gun pod option and the ability to carry AIM-9L Sidewinder missiles, giving the type light tactical capability alongside its training role. Its adaptability and cost effectiveness made the Hawk popular with many air arms, including its high profile use by the Red Arrows aerobatic team.
This Italeri 2813 1/48 kit captures the Hawk T. Mk.I profile with crisp panel lines and parts suited to careful assembly. Modelers will appreciate the kit for accurate cockpit detail and decal options that let you finish a variety of national markings. Finished builds sit well in a display collection or as a solo showpiece.
