The Lockheed F-104 Starfighter is a landmark of Cold War aviation, noted for its slim fuselage and high speed capability. First flown in the late 1950s, variants of the type remained in service with several air arms into the early 2000s. The two-seat TF-104G served as a trainer derived from the single-seat fighter, providing a realistic conversion path for pilots moving to front-line F-104 variants.
Unlike combat single-seat versions, the TF-104G omitted the 20 mm cannon and the centreline pylon, but retained the same General Electric J79 turbojet. That shared powerplant and handling profile made the TF-104G a common choice for NATO training squadrons in countries such as Belgium, Norway, Spain and Italy.
This Italeri kit reproduces the TF-104G with precise engraved panel lines and intricate subassemblies. Interior detail includes a well-detailed engine bay, cockpit and avionics compartment. Model builders can fit the air brakes in open or closed positions and apply markings from two decal sheets that cover eight different national versions.
