The Italeri 1450 scale kit presents a carefully modelled version of the Aeritalia G-222, a notable transport in military aviation history. Designed by Giuseppe Gabrielli in the late 1960s to meet the Italian Air Force need for a compact tactical transport, the G-222 is smaller than the Lockheed C-130 Hercules and was built for short takeoff and landing on rough airstrips, using two turboprop engines to reach speeds up to 480 km/h.

This kit evokes the later C-27J Spartan variant, modernised from 2005 onward. The C-27J uses Rolls-Royce AE2100-D2 powerplants to boost speeds past 600 km/h while keeping strong handling. It serves in a wide range of roles, able to move up to 68 troops or in excess of 11 tonnes of cargo, and features advanced avionics suited to all-weather operations.
