The Italeri 1/72 scale FW 190 D-9 gives modellers a chance to assemble one of WWII's most capable high-altitude fighters. The kit reflects the D-9's reputation for altitude performance and operational versatility.
Introduced in the later stages of the Second World War, the Focke-Wulf FW 190 D-9 used the Junkers Jumo 213A engine to improve performance at altitude, allowing it to hold speed above 7,000 meters against opponents such as the P-51 Mustang.
Equipped in service with two 20mm cannons and two 13mm machine guns, the D-9 also carried out ground attack duties including actions during Operation Bodenplatte. Production ran to roughly 650 to 700 airframes, with only four known to survive today.
Model builders will find the Italeri FW 190 D-9 offers crisp moulding and decal options that support an authentic finish. At 1/72 scale the completed model is compact yet detailed, making it suitable for dioramas or shelf displays with other WWII types.
