The Hobby Boss 1/72 German Rail Transporter for Karl-Geraet kit presents a faithful miniature of the rail systems developed to move oversized wartime guns. It focuses on the Geraet 040 and highlights the engineering choices used to transport heavy artillery by rail.
Work on specialised transport methods began in late 1939 to address the Geraet 040's extreme weight and length. The kit depicts the twin five-axle rail bogies and the hydraulic suspension elements used in the original design, giving a realistic impression of the technical solutions employed at the time.
This assembly contains 245 precision-moulded plastic parts across nine sprues, providing an involved but rewarding build. Finished dimensions are 313.6mm long, 48.3mm wide and 55mm high, and the model is intended to be finished in a field grey scheme to match historical references.
