The Hobby Boss 1/35 German Land-Wasser-Schlepper II-Prototype kit recreates a short-lived WWII amphibious tractor with attention to period detail. The release highlights a vehicle designed to operate both on land and in water while exploring wartime engineering experiments.
The Land-Wasser-Schlepper began as an unarmored amphibious tractor, but issues with its trailer layout and the lack of protection prompted a rethink. The later prototype borrowed trackwork and suspension concepts from the PzKpfw IV to support a lightly armored hull, and the Panzerfaehre concept used pontoons to carry tanks or supplies. Despite the ideas involved, the program ended in 1942 after only two prototypes were produced.
This Hobby Boss kit appeals to builders who like experimental and obscure military hardware. It includes specific details such as the cape stand winch and fold-down air intakes, offering a satisfying assembly challenge and a distinct display piece once finished.
