FW190D-12 R14 Scale Replica with Period Accuracy

The Focke-Wulf FW190D-12 R14 remains a standout WWII design, recognised for its high-speed capabilities and distinctive silhouette. Designed by Dr. Kurt Tank, the FW190 family evolved to meet the need for improved fighters, and the D-12 R14 features a tall vertical stabilizer similar to later Ta 152 and D-10 variants.

This Hobby Boss kit lets modellers recreate that historic type with care. The set contains over 110 parts and challenges builders with fine detail work including a defined fuselage and wing assembly, accurate gear bay components, and a replica MK108 30mm cannon firing through the propeller hub. The central bomb rack is also modelled to accept a torpedo attachment.

Assembly Notes and Fit

Builders who enjoy precise fits and historical accuracy will find this kit rewarding. The single photo-etched part adds realistic surface detail, while careful sanding and careful gluing will bring out the best in the sculpted features. Patience is recommended to capture the FW190D-12 R14's profile correctly.

This kit highlights the D-12 R14's tall vertical stabilizer, the MK108 30mm cannon installation through the prop hub, and the option to display a centreline torpedo on the bomb rack.
Due to fine details and the use of photo-etched parts, this kit is better suited to intermediate and experienced modellers rather than first-time builders.
The assembly includes over 110 parts, along with one photo-etched piece and several clear components for cockpit and canopy glazing.
Use plastic model cement for main joins and CA (super glue) for delicate subassemblies or photo-etched details; a fine file, sprue cutters, and a good hobby knife will improve the finish.
