The F4U-5N Corsair represents the closing chapter of large propeller fighters in US naval aviation. Evolving from the F4U-4, it first flew on December 21, 1945 and incorporated advanced features of its day, including an extended nose to house the 2300hp R-2800-32W engine and an auto-adjusting turbo supercharger. Production was curtailed at 233 aircraft after the end of hostilities.
This Hobby Boss kit captures the F4U-5N profile with careful attention to the modified cockpit and canopy layout. The moulding reproduces the distinctive nose and airframe lines so builders can recreate the aircraft with a high degree of fidelity.
The Hobby Boss F4U-5N kit contains over 200 parts that deliver a detailed fuselage, wing structure and an intricate engine bay. Builders will find the engine and gear bay detailing rewarding to assemble, and the finished model presents well on a stand or shelf when painted and decaled accurately.
