The Messerschmitt Me 262 is recognised as the first operational jet fighter, developed in Germany during World War II and first flown on July 18, 1942. Powered by two Jumo 004B engines, the type could reach about 870 km/h at 6,000 meters, with a service ceiling near 11,400 meters and a range of roughly 1,050 kilometers. Armament typically included four 30mm MK108 cannons and provision for R4M rockets.
The Hobby Boss 1/48 Me 262 A-1a/U1 kit is a detailed scale representation, assembled from more than 230 parts with clear parts provided for the canopy. The moulded fuselage and wing panels reflect the original shapes, and the gear bay is modelled with fine detail, including an optional metal nose gear bay for enhanced realism.
This kit makes a rewarding build for modellers who enjoy careful assembly and finishing. The level of detail and optional metal component give scope for a realistic display model that will sit well in a collection or on a shelf.
