The Tamiya 71126 Mechanical Swimmer is a hands-on model kit aimed at hobbyists and learners curious about mechanical motion. Builders can set the limbs and head to try Freestyle, Butterfly or Backstroke and watch how changes to position alter the swimming action.
This swimmer uses a Submarine Motor Mini paired with an Underwater Gearbox to drive crankarms that move the limbs. Rubber bands transfer motion to the arms for a lifelike stroke, making the kit a useful demo of simple gearing and linkages.
As a snap-fit model, this kit is assembled without tools and suits a wide range of ages. It includes a high-speed Submarine Motor Mini with two O-rings to reduce water ingress for more reliable runs. Note that one AAA battery is needed and sold separately.
