The Mitsubishi A6M3/3a Zero Fighter became a defining fighter in the Pacific air war. Introduced as the Model 32 in mid 1942, it brought better high altitude performance and higher speed, but added weight and cut fuel capacity which reduced its range. The follow up Model 22 arrived in 1943 with longer wings and improved fuel efficiency to restore operational reach.
This 1/48 scale kit from Tamiya reproduces the Mitsubishi A6M3/3a Zero with newly tooled main wings and parts that let you build either the A6M3 or the A6M3a. Photo etched components are provided for the wingtip folding detail, and both seated and standing pilot figures are included to vary display poses.
The Zero's prominence in early WWII makes this model a strong display subject for collectors and hobby builders. The kit contains three marking schemes, including one for Major Shindo, and can be further refined using Tamiya's Mitsubishi A6M Zero Fighter Detail Up Parts Set for added realism.
