This Tamiya 35389 kit gives hobbyists a finely detailed look at the French Light Tank H39. Designed for modellers who value historical accuracy, the kit recreates a vehicle that saw service during the early Second World War and later use by occupying forces.
Created as an evolution of the H35 before the outbreak of World War II, the H39 improved mobility and firepower for French cavalry units. It featured a 120hp engine and an L/33 37mm main gun by 1939. The H39 saw action during the 1940 campaigns and several examples were taken into German service and upgraded, reflecting the design's adaptability.
The finished model measures 138mm long and 56mm wide at 1/35 scale, offering a compact but accurate representation. The turret parts benefit from advanced slide molding to ease construction. Track assembly uses one-piece straight sections with convincing upper run droop to enhance realism.
Included are variant parts such as cupola elements, visor pieces, an engine grille, idler wheels, suspension bogies and an antenna base so builders can assemble either French or German configurations. Two crew figures are supplied: a standing French crewman and a German torso, adding display interest.
The kit includes metal chains for the French fitment and provides two marking options alongside a full-color painting guide to help achieve period-accurate camouflage. It makes a compact, display-ready addition to a military model shelf or diorama.
